An Epidemiological Study on 103 Cases of Fracture of Extremities


Abstract
A statistical analysis of fracture of extremities which were treated at the Dept. of Orthopedics of Soo Do Medical College Hospital from april 1963 to may 1964 are presented.
Observation was made according to the sex and age difference, involved lesion, causative factor, arriving time after injury and complication.
The findings are summarzed as follows:
1. The incidence of sex was higher in male than female (5.8:1).
2. The incidence of fracture was highest with those who are under 10 years of age (32%). 3. The most frequent site of fracture was lower leg (22%).
4. Traffic accident was the most prevailing causes of fracture (38.72),
5. Over one half of the total patients came to the hospital within 24 hours after injury. 6. Complications were found in 4% of the total number of fracture.
